Become an Associate

Many people today search for spirituality in their daily lives. CSJ Associates are single or married women and men who are attracted by our spirit as Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto. They develop their spirituality and service to others within their own lifestyle.

Through regular association, prayer and service, Associates grow in their own vocation and reflect the spirit of love in their homes, parishes and communities while often meeting and working with us.

Associates gather on a regular basis to share faith, prayer and support in communities specific to where they are located throughout city and even the country. And each year, there are regular events at which all Associates assemble to share and renew their commitment.

Since my first commitment in 2000, my spirituality and faith have grown throughout my years as a CSJ Associate. The Sisters and my fellow Associates have consistently offered support and refuge as I walked my life's journey, which has included these milestones of marriage, career advancement and parenthood.

I continue to be grateful to the Sisters and my fellow Associates that my involvement with the Galilee Community strengthens and benefits all areas of my life. I look forward to the many more wonderful opportunities to grow, share and minister to others.

To belong to the Associate program is to be a part of something special. My journey with the Associates, beginning in 2002, has been that of the mustard seed, growing slowly, looking for a community that would nurture my spirituality and encompass my beliefs.

I have had many roles and opportunities for personal growth during my 18 years as an Associate. Our gatherings and leadership are welcoming and caring. The Sisters continue to be an inspiration to us all in our growth as a group of women and men who share the beautiful charism of the care of the “dear neighbour.” As I complete my first year as co-director of the Associate Program, I feel a deep connection to my fellow Associates. I look forward to the future and to being a part of this dynamic group.

I'm proud to say that the Associates have been a special part of my life since September 2017. Having made my first commitment in April 2019, I recognize that belonging to the Associates is integral to my spiritual growth.

In my day-to-day life, I often struggle to find time to nourish my relationship with God. I especially look forward to the monthly Galilee community meetings, participating in the Leadership Training Program and the Annual Fall Retreat.

I welcome the opportunity to explore my relationship to the many wonderful Associates and Sisters involved in the Associate program; especially the times where we learn more about each other through sharing our experiences and struggles.
