In 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II instituted February 2 as a day for women and men in consecrated life. This Feast day reminds us that Christ is the light and love of the world. And so, we celebrate those in consecrated life who reflect the light and love of Jesus Christ to everyone throughout the world.
For more than 170 years, the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto has been the light and love of Jesus Christ. They serve, care and respond with simplicity and compassion to the needs of our dear neighbour without distinction and our common home, dear Earth.
This global celebration acknowledges all Sisters of St. Joseph, a community continuing to listen to the movements of the Holy Spirit. They respond generously to the call to service in their particular country, culture, and life circumstances. This call to more is love that is active, inclusive, reconciling and in oneness with God.
Pope Francis tells us that everything consecrated life does is at the service of the Gospel, so that it may be the gospel for the world today. With a rejoicing heart, we give gratitude to the life, presence and call to service of the Sisters of St. Joseph “living out their life with one desire only: to be always what God wants them to be, in nature, grace and glory, for time and for eternity.”
