Ignatian spirituality urges us to find our God in all things. Two weeks ago week, we celebrated our Creator God in the beauty of our world as people from all over the world commemorated the fifth anniversary of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home.
The week of celebration started on the Feast of the Ascension; that evening as some Sisters prayed together, we started with a chant by Jan Phillips: “I will not leave you comfortless.”

Her beautiful lyrics mirror Jesus’ consolation of his followers as he promised the Spirit to be with them as he left their earthly presence.
For us, as we prayed together, those words reminded us to be intentional and to claim the comfort of God’s presence with us in the beauty of a late spring evening.
Again we experienced the call of our ministerial commitment “to nurture community with our neighbour, especially with the homeless, the alienated, the economically poor, women at risk and our wounded Earth.”
