Sabrina M. Chiefari is an Environmental Educator whose work centers on community engagement, outdoor education and environmental well-being. She uses story-telling, community action and spiritual thought to help all people understand how to act wisely towards our water, air and earth.
She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies from York University, completed an internship with the Quebec-Labrador Foundation, and spent almost 15 years with the Toronto & Region Conservation Authority delivering diverse formats of educational programming. She’s also contributed short, fictional stories and articles for Alternatives Journal and has facilitated several professional development workshops, most notably for the Council of Outdoor Educators of Ontario and the Ontario Society for Environmental Educators.
In her work, Sabrina mixes her passion for storytelling with finding ways to interpret ecological issues in a more hopeful way. Leveraging these connections, one of her current projects is an Integral Ecology Program for Secondary Students in TCDSB.
Sabrina is currently the Integral Ecology Specialist for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto’s Ministry for Social Justice, Peace, and Creation Care. The Ministry operates with an anti-oppressive, nonviolent, integral ecology framework. Current key social justice areas the ministry is focusing on include Indigenous Justice, Climate Justice, and Labour Exploitation.
