World Day of Prayer for Creation

From the Federation of Sisters of St. Joseph of Canada: this year’s lovely and inspiring prayer to celebrate the Season of Creation (September 1 – October 4) includes beautiful music, sacred words, and readings to remind us to “Let the lessons we’ve learned … stay rooted in our hearts, guiding us to live more responsibly and in harmony with all that You’ve made”.

“Future generations will never forgive us if we miss the opportunity to protect our common home. We have inherited a garden; we must not leave a desert for our children.”

“All of us—whoever and wherever we are—can play a part in changing our collective response to the unprecedented threat of climate change and environmental degradation.

Caring for God’s creation is a spiritual commission requiring a response of commitment. This is a critical moment.

Our children’s future and the future of our common home depend on it.”

An urgent appeal, calling on the faithful, in a joint statement, by Faith Leaders, Pope Francis, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Archbishop Justin Welby of Canterbury.
